St Patrick's Day Song

St Patricks Day is fast approaching, and as both Claire and I are Irish born we are very insistent on celebrating in style!

The Rimu children have been learning the song 'Paint the Town Green', by the Dublin based band The Script. The kids love it and they do such a great job at singing along.

Below you will find a link to the song on YouTube (complete with lyrics). You can access the print out version of the lyrics below too!

'Paint the Town Green' Lyrics

Hey hoo
Hey hoo
I know you’re missing home
It’s been so long since you’ve been
And that life you had in Dublin
Now ain’t nothing but a dream
To be right there in the moment
You’d give anything to be
It’s alright
‘Cause tonight
We’re gonna paint the town green
Your friends are on the phone there
It's so close to Paddy’s Day
And it kills you not to be there
But life got in the way
If I have to break the bank
Spend every penny on your dreams
It’s alright
‘Cause tonight
We’re gonna paint the town green
Just like home
Let’s color the streets like our own
Let’s make this place feel like our own
If it’s just you and me
It’s alright
‘Cause tonight
We’re gonna paint the town green (Hoo)
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
And we travel on the subway
Like it was the Luas line
Chase the Hudson to the Liffey
Where we kissed for the first time
Turn the city into Dublin
Yeah, wherever we may be
It’s alright
‘Cause tonight
We’re gonna paint the town green
Just like home
Let’s color the streets like our own
Let’s make this place feel like our own
If it’s just you and me,
It’s alright
‘Cause tonight
We’re gonna paint the town green (Hoo)
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
Hey ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Hey ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Just like home
Let’s color the streets like our own
Let’s make this place feel like our own
If it’s just you and me,
It’s alright
‘Cause tonight
We’re gonna paint the town green (Hoo)
Paint the town green
Hey hoo
(Hey hoo) Paint the town green
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
Hey hoo
Hey hoo

One Call Away - Class Song

This term we are learning the words to the Charlie Puth song 'One Call Away.' As our theme this year is superhero's, we thought the lyrics to this song were particularly appropriate.

The Rimu children love it and have gotten very good at remembering the words and even incorporating the actions.

Below you will find a link to the song on YouTube, complete with lyrics. You can also find the print out version of the lyrics too (just incase they feel like singing at home).

Enjoy!

One Call Away lyrics:

I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

Call me, baby, if you need a friend
I just wanna give you love
Come on, come on, come on
Reaching out to you, so take a chance
No matter where you go
You know you're not alone

*Chorus*
I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away.

Come along with me and don't be scared
I just wanna set you free
Come on, come on, come one
You and me can make it anywhere
For now, we can stay here for a while, ay
'Cause you know, I just wanna see you smile
No matter where you go
You know you're not alone.

*Chorus*
I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away.

And when you're weak I'll be strong
I'm gonna keep holding on
Now don't you worry, it won't be long, darling
And when you feel like hope is gone
Just run into my arms.

*Chorus*
I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one, I'm only one

*Final Chorus*
I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

I'm only one call away

Welcome Lyla Mint Leaf!

We are so excited to announce that Rimu has its very own class fairy!

The Rimu children wrote a very well thought out letter to Kate, Queen of the fairies, asking if Rimu could please have their own special fairy. We were in luck as one week later, Lyla Mint Leaf arrived.

Lyla loves to fly, eat chocolate chip flavoured crumbs, spend time with children, and holiday on Waiheke.

We are so lucky to have our very own fairy, and we have already written lots of letters to her telling her all about ourselves.

Salt & Pepper - Rimu Class Mascots

Hi there!

We are Salt (I'm purple) & Pepper (I'm pink), the Rimu class mascots.

Over the course of the school year one of us will come home with one of your children and spend time with you all. We love going on adventures, eating ice cream, going to the beach (though we don't like getting wet), and meeting your families.

We come with a little notebook where you can document our time together. Please don't worry about spelling - we're owls, we don't notice those things! However, we do love having our photos taken. So we would love if you could add some photos or drawings to our notebook.

We are looking forward to meeting you all. I'm sure it will be a hoo-hoo-hoot!
